New IMEF Guidelines for OEMs and Manufacturers Released
August 25, 2025

We are delighted to release the new Guidelines for OEMs and Manufacturers, marking an important step forward in advancing transparency and consistency in the reporting of product carboon footprint in maritime procurement.
Developed by the IMPA SAVE/IMEF Council with input from the wider Working Group, the guidelines set out a clear framework for how original equipment manufacturers can begin aligning with the industry’s growing focus on carbon transparency and Scope 3 reporting. This document provides practical direction for companies to measure and disclose the product carbon footprint (PCF) of their goods, helping them prepare for a future where environmental accountability is integral to procurement decisions.
The release comes ahead of IMPA London 2025, where the guidelines will be officially launched, alongside an array of other supporting documentation, and discussed in detail during a landmark practical session: “IMEF from Theory to Practice: Measuring Product Carbon Footprint and Scope 3 Emission”. Find out more about that session and register to attend (seats are very limites!): www.impaevents.com/event/london/whats-happening
By publishing these guidelines, IMEF aims to further establish the common standard our industry needs to measure, report and reduce environmental impact across the maritime supply chain. More information and additional documentation will follow soon, so please watch this space.
